Document scanning is priced per page
Almost all document digitization and scanning services are quoted on a per-page basis. For straightforward, good-condition A4 paper scanned in bulk, rates in India are typically low — often a fraction of a rupee to a few rupees per page once volume is taken into account. The headline per-page number is only part of the story, though. What actually determines your final cost is the work each page needs.
What changes the price
- Volume: the more pages, the lower the per-page rate. Bulk document scanning of hundreds of thousands of pages is far cheaper per page than a few boxes.
- Paper condition: clean, loose A4 is fast. Stapled, bound, fragile, torn or odd-sized documents need manual prep, which adds cost.
- OCR & indexing: plain image scans are cheapest. Adding OCR services to make documents searchable, plus metadata indexing against your file structure, adds value — and a little to the price.
- On-site vs off-site: for confidential archives we can scan at your premises in Pune or anywhere in India; on-site work costs slightly more but your originals never leave your control.
- Output format: standard PDF is included; specialised formats (PDF/A, JPEG2000, searchable DOC/XML, structured data capture) may carry a small premium.
